As you may remember from previous posts, I am new to diesels and also that I picked up a 1966 MF 135. While I'm sitting here recovering from back surgery, I'm making a list of things to pick up when I'm able to be out and about.
What kinda crank case oil do I need? Do I need a special diesel oil or just regular oil?

Shell Rotella Diesel Oil 15W40
Mobil Delvac 1300 Diesel Oil 15W40
Chevron Delo Diesel Oil 15W40

I asked a Massey dealer about this - his answer was 15W40 oil. I agree that a good brand diesel oil should be used - not just the regular 15W40 oil available at K-Mart and other places.

Diesel oil if it is a diesel. I use Valvoline diesel engine oil for small Japanese diesel engines as the engine is the same design as my 2.8l Rocky 4X4 diesel and I use the same oil in both.

If the oil filter is the old cartridge type then replace it with a spin on kit which is less messy and works better.
