Thanks for the help on my tires. I have another question: I am needing to change the oil in the transmission and rear end. The owners manual says to use a mineral based oii. What kind is this and is it avaiable? Thank in advance!

I agree with Don-wi, a Massey dealer told me they recommend Perma-Tran III in all Massey tractor transmissions and rearends now. They originally had 90 weight gear oil in them but in cold climates they worked really slow until the oil warmed up. The Perma-Tran III works much better.

You never said what tractor it is, but you can get a 90 weight mineral oil from your dealer. It's actually closer to hydraulic oil than regular old 90 wt.

I would lean more towards draining out the oil in the rear end if you don't know what it is, and re-fill it with MF Perma-tran III, their newer hydraulic oil that is recomended for the later 100 and 200 series. I'm guessing you've got something like a TO-XX or a X5

I've never gotten any mineral oil for our tractors, but I think it calls for a GL-1 somewhere in there too. The newer oils are better at the same job and are a little easier to find in some places. Just my opinion.
