Hello everybody,

My MF 165 "FIRMIN" (his name) stopped running in one time, while I was working around in my yard.

So I was not driving, the engine was running for two hours with any trouble when it stopped for any reasons. First I thought it was running out of diesel so I fil the tank with 20 liters of good diesel. But it did not start !

And I tried several time to start it without success. I have also bleed the air but I am not sure I did it properly. How to do it and be sure is not air in the diesel ?

So do you have any idea of what it is wrong with FIRMIN ?

I am waiting for your advises ?

Hi, good advice from everyone else but don't forget the filter screen that should be mounted on top of the fuel tap inside the tank. It is made of nylon. They do come off some times. If yours has, the tap will block up quicker.

Yes, fuel filters can plug at very inconvenient times, like right in the middle of trying to get a busy job done with the tractor. The dirtier the fuel supply, the faster they will plug up. Putting on new filters seems like a good place to start in getting the tractor running. Air bleeding isn't that hard if you follow the flow of fuel from the tank, thru the filters and open the air bleed screws on filter top, one at a time until fuel alone comes out. Then close that one and proceed to the next. Most any farm-supply store should be able to tell you where to get new filters. Good luck.

Thanks TODD,

I will go tomorrow : Question again On this secundary filter, if I remove the bottom agglomerator, after that,Is the element filter easily discard ? Like taht I will go to the shop with all parts (gasket, seal) I need to remove...
I guess I need to turn it opposite clockwise with a tool we use to remove the car's oil filter ?

Don't turn the agglomerarator. It comes off when you loosen the bolt on the top. The bolt threads into the metal piece under the agglomerator. The filter will pull off with light pressure. You need a real small screw driver or something like that to take off the little O-rings that the filters fit over. The new O-rings should come with the new filters. You don't always have to change them but it's a good idea since are easy to get to. Dave

Unless you are sure the fuel filters have been changed recently, put new ones in place before doing any air bleeding; then you at least know the filters are not plugged.

Hello Todd and MF 1,

Do you mean the fact of one of fuel filters plugged may stop the engine without any previous trouble ?

I cleaned the first filter with bowl sediment, I cleaned the base of the secundary filter. I did not remove the element filter ? I do not know Where can I find a new one ? This element filter plugged (alone) could block my engine ?

Here"s a link on how to bleed the fuel lines from a previous post. It" a lot faster than me trying to type it all out.
