I am looking to buy a 1956 Massey Harris 50. I am a Ford 8N man and not sure what to look out for on this tractor. Is this a desirable all around front end loader tractor or should I keep looking. Any thoughts on the 50 appriciated.

If it is a diesel with power steering and loaded tires, put a pump on the front of it and it will serve you very well.

I have had a front end loader on a Ferguson 40 for about 35 years -same tractor as the 50 essentually . I use it almost daily. I have a PTO pump on it. Works fine.

I would not consider this an excellent loader
tractor. It is not practical to use internal hyd
w/4.2 GPM. It is not practical to add a front mtd
pump because you can not turn sharp to the left
unless you do expensive modification. This is
because the steering arm passes in front of the
hole that the pump shaft would pass thru. If,
however, you find a good PTO pump set up that
would change all that. The tractor would handle a loader just fine. Does it have power steering?
That would be a factor also. Chuck
