The transmission fluid on my 165 is low so today I went to buy some only to realize I have no idea what it takes. Is it gear oil, hydraulic fluid, transmission fluid or what?

If you've got a Massey dealer in the area, go to them. They call for MF Perma-tran III. Otherwise, if the oil at the store says it meets MF's specs, it should be fine. It's a hydraulic oil that doubles as a transmission oil, so just straight Hyd. oil isn't good enough.

MF recommends using trans/hydr oil meeting M- 1129 specifications.

What does that mean? Does it state that on the label? Thanks
