Could anyone tell me the best place to look for a 3-speed knob, a Hi-Lo knob and a steering wheel for a MF 65. Also, I just bought this tractor (it's a 1965) and wonder if I can run synthetic oil in it. Thanks for the info. Levi

Yes, you can run synthetic oil in any engine that uses regular motor oil. You might want to double-check two things first: 1) Has it been using detergent on non-detergent oil? If non-detergent, the synthetic oil is going to loosen up lots of built-up gunk. 2) Does this tractor burn any oil? If so, using synthetic oil will be an expensive proposition.

These parts are easily found on here or on eBay. You should pay about 4-8 dollars for both shift knobs. The deep dish steering wheel is cheap and can often be found with the center for around $30. The flat steering wheel with the covered spokes is what most folks want and runs around $44. If ya can live with the bare spokes, that runs around $20. Shift boots keep the rain water out of the tranny and can be had for $4. This site has good prices and shipping is quick. If you are making a purchase off of eBay, check with the seller and see if has the other parts you need. Porter8N has a huge inventory and has been selling on eBay for several years. He is also willing to tag other items onto a winning bid to help with shipping.

If it is the late 65 with the deep dish steering wheel you may get off a junk M-F combine. Most of the steering wheels inside the cab are in good shape and should be bought very reasonable. David B
