Where do I measure the pressure on my MF40 power steering system. I have the totally Hydraulic system, and it will barely turn the wheels while the tractor is setting still. I have the manuals ordered, and would like to check this out prior to their arrival.

Merlin to do it yourself you will need to fabricate a pressure gage rig that fits into the pressure side of the pump to measure discharge pressure. This should also have a valve in it so that you don't dead head the pump for to long(although the relief valve in the pump should be able to handle it)You will also need to be able to remove the test gage assembly and install it into one of the lines at the cylinders to measure the pressure after the steering valve.

Thank you GaryF. I can do that, I was wondering if there was a special port/plug to use. I will get a T, a gauge, and a fitting to fit the pump, for the cylinder, I will use a T and fittings to attach it.

The pressure at the pump should be in the neighbourhood of 1300-1500 psi. You would also like to see 1000-1200 at the cylinders.I can check for exact #'s if required. Hopefully the problem is not the control valve. Good luck
