Help! MF 275 Fuel Injector pump problems

I recently removed the fuel injector pump on a MF275 and had it rebuilt. I put the pump back on and lined the timing mark up exactly (just like it was when I took it off)
Now when I start it, the black smoke just rolls out and it will finally smooth out. (It won"t start unless it"s idled up a little). Once it"s smoothed out, if I throttle up, same thing happens - black smoke rolls for a second then it catches up. Had to use it today to load some hay and after it warmed up the breather started smoking.
What"s the problem?
The gent that rebuilt the pump is supposed to come out, but he"s been unavailable might be later this week.
Suggestions???
THanks

Write down all the numbers off your CAV pump. On mone there are 3 very detailed serial numbers. Next write down your exact Perkins engine serial number. Visit your MF dealer and talk to the head mechanic. He should be able to tell you which hole the "tombstone" hooks up in. He should also be able to tell you which hole in the flat end of the shaft. See my detailed post below on these hook ups. It is about one page long about changine the orings and gasket. Post back if you can not find it. Tom

I"m afraid this is not the normal start-up smoke. It does it starting as well as anytime the throttle is opened up. Not sure what was changed on the pump itself - thought it was a standard rebuild.

Black smoke is unburned diesel. A little on start up is normal as well as excellerating. If you're getting lots maybe the pump was turned up a bit. There was another post about putting a spring in the injection pump in the wrong holes. Maybe your injectors need to be checked to see if they are working properly. Hopefully the guy can make it out ASAP. Dave
