I am new to this site and a first time tractor owner. Thanks to people here, I have determined I have a 1975 MF 135 UK diesel. Were there any discussions as to what engines are in these models and how I may determine which engine I have? (I do know it is a 3 cylinder). When browsing parts catalogs for a radiator hose, I noticed they want to know if it is with A-152 or with AD3-153.? Also, will this tractor handle a 6 foot heavy duty bush hog? thanks again

Welcome to the site! Some wonderful folks here, discussing the world's best tractors (grin)!

Your engine is likely the Perkins AD3-152. The serial number should be stamped on the right side of the block, between the fuel pump and the 2 oil line angle fittings. Probably 152 UA ######.

Still one of the most fuel efficient engines in service, and probably the cheapest to overhaul.

Should handle the 6 foot cutter, but heavy going will be a load for the tractor. Rated about 40 hp, plus or minus, depending on whose figures you accept!

Just checked and again you are right! 152 UA######. Thanks for the welcome and the help. I have been reading past posts and there are many knowledgeable people here.

I think I got a GREAT tractor!!

I am going to buy manuals. Are all mf 135 manuals basically the same? I mean do i have to specify the year and the UK model in order to get the right manual?

I own cars and motorcycles and minibikes and love motors, but this is my first venture with a diesel tractor. Should be an interesting learning experience.

The manuals are "generic" - no difference between years.

The I&T manual is a bit cheaper and a bit less detailed than the MF shop manual. Both are available from our YT hosts.

Both cover the US basics well. Your steering is different, but is pretty well trouble-free. The folks on the site will fill in any gaps!
