Hello All I have been seaching tractor sites for years now in an attemp to locate detailed information on installing a PTO into a "Instant Reverse" Trans. For my Massey 30B.I started out by gathering info on the parts which would be required to get started and found that OEM parts would be quite expensive. So I started searching online and dicovered that most of these parts are availible "After Market",My question is, has any one had experience in performing this up grade and any one have experience with after market PTO parts? My apologies for this lenghty discourse. Sincere Thanks Jesse CA

I don't think pto's were put on the instant reverse trans. because the pto reverses when you go in reverse on the tractor. If they did put them on, you'ld have to be real careful so you didn't break something. Dave

Hello Dave And Thanks for the reply,You are absolutely right, with the instant reverse trans you would be limited to stationary and forward only applications such as, maybe,a posthole digger?I have considered using a one way overruning clutch to gaurd against breaking something just incase I inadvertently hit the reverse pedal.

I had 3 point and PTO installed in a MF204. The parts came from a donor MF35. Do you have 3 point now? or are you just looking for the PTO. I rototilled and ran a posthole auger. If you were going to bush hog the ORC should be on it. The 3 point pump didn't seem to be affected by reversing it.
The parts you would need may come from a 200 series tractor depending how many splines.

Hello Gary Thank you for the information. Yes,my 30B has a 3 point lift and the instant reverse trans,So I'm just trying to install the PTO. I was unaware that PTO parts from a MF35 interchanged so I guess the rear diff.housings are similar?I priced out used parts @ 700.00 and new aftermarket @ 300.00 When you say "200 series" Do you mean The early 202,203,204 and 205's?You mentioned the splines,I looked in my 30B parts manual and it lists the pto shaft and sliding gear as having 21 splines did yours have a different spline count? Was your experience in completeing the conversion relatively straight forward?Do you like how it operates? Jesse

Jesse..Sorry the parts for my 204 came from a MF35 these are only 10 spline. By 200 series I mean 245,255,265 or 275. Not 100% on the 245 however the center casting should be the same as the others so it would most likely work. You could also check the part #'s from a 30B with the manual shuttle trans. It should be identical. Used parts should be available. The only new part you may need in the bearing/race that mounts in the housing(internally the one at the end where the PTO shaft comes out should be included with used parts) if it doesn't come with it.
