3 pt. hitch is stuck in the up position. It will drift down slowly when tractor is shut off.The hitch arms seem to jam at the top but there are no unusual noises or labouring of engine and the loader works fine.Is there a way of checking out the problem?

I just put mine back together this afternoon. The first thing I found wrong was the check chains were upside down and wouldn't let the arms lift all the way, they would stay up til I shut the tractor off then apparently the lift cylinder would let the pressure leak of and they would drop. I think it has to do with the draft control. David from Wales told me the same thing but when I did like he said, I found the valve nice and loose. So I got one of those I+T manuals which I usually consider next to worthless, and went to the section that covered the lift, and found that every adjustment on it was wrong. I went thru the steps as outlined in the manual, and when I got thru, it worked. Couldn't adjust the draft control spring on top at the rear cause its rusted solid, but I needed the position control anyway. The manual says you can make the adjustments thru the hole in the side where the dipstick is , and you can, but it ain't easy. Helps if you have three arms. SO I suggest you get the manual, and go from there. If my tires wern't loaded, I would take that side off so I could get in there easier.

Hi,
Sounds like the pump control valve is sticking. Drain the oil to the level of the bottom bolt on the right hand side cover. Remove the cover and operate the control lever. All of the linkage should move. If it goes loose or does not work that should identify whether the problem is in the top or bottom end.

Hi David, I asked a question about hydraulics a while ago and got it fixed today, check my post to Fred Bell.
