Is the oil pump housing in the Perkins diesel aluminum or cast iron?

Is the oil pump replaceable without further disassembly after removing the oil pan?

Thanks, in advance.

Hi,
Once you have the sump (oil pan) off you will need to remove the half-round housing that the sump presses against at the front. It can be removed carefully. Remove the circlip and intermediate gear. With a small 1/2" socket or ring spanner that has the face ground square, remove the three bolts. When refitting, remember to install the pipe between the pump and block as you install the pump. You won't get it in after. Also check and replace the inter gear if there is any sign of the teeth going 'sharp'.
