Hi, I've got a Mark 1 MF 65 perkins diesel. The trouble is that once the tractor has stood for a few days and I go to start it, it will run for about two seconds and then stall. It wont start again until the system is bleed, after the airlock is removed it will run all day long. There are no signs of an obvious leak, where are the usual leaks to be found, what would be the best way to find the problem.

Thanks....

Several possible causes. I just recently went through something simular. It ended up being the lift pump diaphram gone bad. It would allow air in when not running. Rebuilt the pump and back in business. Other possibilities, leaking injector lines, stopped up fuel petcock/screen on bottom of tank, Pre-screen on injector pump stopped up. Fuel filters needing changed or air leak around filter assembly. And that"s just the high points. Many more possibilities.

Dev..... ..eazist way to pressureize yer fuel system is with air. Just buy yerself an 'nother fueltank cap (as replacement) and take the old cap and DRILL it as convienent to fit a bolt-in hot-rod type chrome tire valve-stem. and blow-away. Simple, eh?

I do this with Volkswagon Diesels..... ..Dell
