Ive never had a Massey Ferguson, nor a diesel before, but the other day a MF 135 with 3 cyl diesel followed me home, so I guess I better try to see if I can keep it from the junk dealer.
It hasnt ran for awhile, but the engine is free and not stuck.
I figured that I would replace the fuel filters along with some fresh fuel before trying to start it.
When I scraped off some of the dirt and grease on the filter canisters, I noticed that the first filter canister has been reworked with what looks like a white plastic pipe. This is the first filter from the fuel tank.
Looking in a parts suppliers catalog, I noticed there are glass bowls for sale for fuel filter canisters.
Until I get some manuals for it, can someone tell me what is suppose to be there or maybe someone has an exploded parts view or a picture.
Cant find a serial number tag, but I think it is about a 1965 model.
It has the swept back front axle, rounded fenders, Perkins AD3-152 engine

Thanks !
Gary

Hi Gary,
Congrats. on your new acquisition. The 135 is an excellent tractor especially with AD3 152. Good idea to clean up the fuel system before starting it. Sounds like the previous owner replaced the glass bowl with the piece of pipe you mention. There should also be a small filter above the fuel shutoff in the tank you might ckeck out while you have the system apart, also make sure the shutoff is operational. From your description it sounds like you have an early model, the ser.# is located on a plate on the dash.
Regards JJ.

Thanks for the photo.
It's kinda nasty weather here but maybe I can get out to clean off what I have and snap a picture.
In your picture, the one on the right is the filter I'm talking about.

Does your 135 have the numbers on the side at the front of the hood or rear? Front is UK model, rear is US model. Look on the front underside of the oil pan, it should have the casting date on it. I think they may have the filters in different locations. They are the same but I think US models have one on one side and one on the other side. UK are both on the injection pump side. There is also a sediment bowl by the priming pump. Big Deans site has some more info. The first filter only has the glass bowl on the bottom. They call it an agglomerator. When you get it going you will be happy with it, even if it needs a few repairs. 135's are highly sought after. Enjoy. Dave

The 135 number is on the rear near the operators position.
This tractor will need a lot of repairs. It's in sad shape, but I have fixed up worse.
It will provide hours of fun !

Hi all,
Well done with the photo JJ in BC.....look out Big Dean ;-)))
All UK 135's had two filters, one with an aglomerator or in English, a water trap. Our 500 series introduced around 1975 had one larger filter instead. A word of warning if when you replace the filter with the glass bowl. The retaining screw should only be nipped up. They have a habit of looking OK, you walk away, when you return, the bowl has broken.....so minimum tightening only.
Good luck with your tractor.

Mine anly has 1 filter. Also has a lip seal crank! Don't know the year as tag was missing. I think it was a late model Orchard as it also has 8speed and square axle housings. Currently being refitted with wetdisc brakes and 2 spool internal aux, hyd. pump. Waiting for a few more parts.

Gary...sorry about that!! Welcome to the Forum and congrats on the MF135 you have found a good place to ask your ????'s There is an extensive parts catalogue on this website I think they are also an A&I dealer. Manuals are best from Ebay or the dealer as reprints are usually of poor quality.

Hey,

Do yourself a favour and find an AGCO/MF dealer, order yourself a owners, parts & service manual. Won't be anymore than $100, and they are the best manuals on the market!!

Take care,

Will
