i have a mf85 the pto runs in neutral and eng. position. when you step the clutch down the dump valve works and the pto stops. if you put it into the ground drive as you release the clutch the tractor in neutral the tractor move forward. is the pto clutch pack two tight? i had it all apart and everything looked good in there. the 3point also does not lift but the aux. does work. any ideas. i hate to but will probably have to split it again. thanks shade tree mech.

Here are two possibilities, one, the PTO control value inside the tranny is not fuuly releasing and a small amount of fluid is supplying pressure to the pack and energizing it, or two, the clutch pack hub is not fully bottomed out and is riding on one of the last discs of the clutch pack and causing some drag. If I remember right, the completed pack should have somewhere around 60- 100 thousands of and inch clearance when bench assembled. Maybe too, an O ring or seal rolled upon assembly and the clutch piston is not returning all the way, check for debris behind the piston. Unfortunately, all will require split.
