I had a tree branch flip up and hit the small (probably 3/16" o.d.) fuel line connecting to the top of the fuel filter housing (the smaller of the two filters)underneath what I assume is a bleeder bolt. The line was loosened and now leaks. Can someone tell me how to fix it? There is no compression or flare nut where it connects. The small line runs from the filter housing underneath the fuel tank to what looks like a "T" fitting but I can't tell where it goes from there. I hope the line does not have to be brazed or soldered.

hello!

in the past i"ve had luck with solder, i had the hydraulic line going to the filter start leaking in my massey 168, due to the line rubbing agains one of it"s mounting points. first i cleaned it up good with degreaser and some sandpaper. then i heated it up good with a torch, and then applied the solder. been holding up tight since then.

Of course, if you have an acethylene torch, i"d also suggest brazing the fitting.

Hi,
Assuming that your setup is the same as Uk models, the following may be of help.
The 'T' fitting is correct. The RH pipe goes to the reservoir for cold starting at the rear of the tank. The central one goes to the rear of the injector rail as a drain and the LH one goes to the top of the filter. It sounds like you have a leak where the pipe enters the banjo on top of the filter. If this is correct, brazing is the only answer. It is unlikely that solder would take. You could try a glue of some sort but the union would have to be scrupulously clean.

You also have the choice of a new or repaired pipe.

David
Thanks for the reply. I called the local repair shop and explained the situation as best I could. The mechanic thinks there is a rubber grommet that goes on the end of the pipe going into the fitting. Is he right or did he misunderstand my problem? I wish Massey would put their parts manuals on the internet like John Deere, Case, and New Holland.

There are rubber 'grommets' on the other two pipes but if your leak is coming from the top of the filter then 'no'. The banjo is brazed onto the pipe.

I've had good luck with silver solder on these lines and fittings.

Lower temperature than brazing; seems to stand up to vibration well where regular solder does not.
