I recently purchased my tractor to put my boat in the water at our cottage as the boat launch is both steep and rough. When placing the boat in the water it appears water got into my clutch housing causing the clutch plates to seize together making the clutch inoperable in that it does not release. Other Massey Harris owner in the area say this is a common problem. Following their advise I started the tractor up in gear and placed it under load by climbing hills and changing engine speeds to no success. Any suggestions would be muchly appreciated as my next step is to remove the clutch housing.

Common problem with all tractors. First thing to do is block the clutch pedel down when your not useing it. 2nd as you did but you had no luck but did you block the pedel first for a few days?? Another thng you can do is whit the pdel blocked/tied down pull the starter off and spray brake cleaner in and on the clutch area, turn the engine over a little bit and spray and keep doing that till you have hit all of the clutch. The give it a drive, also if you can pull something heavy that helps, ofcourse drive it with the clutch pedel down and in an open area. Ive seen it take an hour to pop one free
