I just purchased a Massey 165 at auction and was wondering if anyone can tell me what the little lever to the left of the steering wheel does? It goes down to the top of the transmission but I have no idea what it should do. The lever does move freely. Thanks for any help.

On mine the lever works the shuttle shift on the transmission. When I first got my tractor it wasn"t hooked up so I had to make a rod. Works fine now.

I could be wrong, but as I understood it is the little lever you can push it to the front or to pull to you. If it is that one, I use it to turn off the engine when I pull it to me. When I push it to the front of the tractor it is to let the engine runing or starting.

That lever is on the left side of the stearing wheel on at the level of your left knee
