How are you supposed to put the left hand side panel/battery cover on? I am in the process of restoring my tractor and can't figure this out. Any help is much appreciated. I am also on the lookout for a flatbelt pulley for my 1949 MH Pony.

When I put mine on, I had to start the panel over the steering arm and then lift the front up in the air to get the back of the panel behind the dash. Once the back edge corner is behund the dash you should be able to push the front down into place and it should drop right in.

the left hand side panel does have the slot in it, but the back end of the panel is supposed to go in behind the dash panel and the slot goes down behind the steering arm.

I am having trouble figuring out how to put the end of the panel behind the dash and slide it down behind the steering arm.

Sam,
You mean with the steering arm getting in the way? That hole needs to be a slot and it fits down over the steering arm from the top.

I can take pictures of this one and send them to you if you want.

I bought repro side panels off of ebay. They worked real nice. I did have do some minor fitting in order to get the holes to line up proper. There should be holes in the top of the side panel that line up with holes in the top where the tool box is located. There should also be two holes that line up with the gas tank support, and several along the bottom that bolt directly to the torque tube.
I will be glad to take and e-mail photos if you need them.
