I am about to replace the fluid in my transmission in an attempt to get my 3 point hitch operating again. When I try to raise an implement, the hitch starts to raise, but won't lift any kind of load. I have purchased a filter, but I don.t see where it belongs. Any suggestions before I put $90 worth of hydraulic oil in to this rig?

Not sure where the other response is going so I thought I would chime in. If the current fluid is okay, remove the right side access plate that has the dipstick. Look for evidence of blown seals, faulty relief valves, and broken parts. If you still cannot see what the problem is, drain the fluid into clean 5 gallon buckets. You should be able to see the filter now. It may not have a filter, depending on age. Not sure when they started using filters, but my 59 mf65 does not have one. My tractor had water in the crankcase that froze and destroyed the pump. Not sure what you will find, but a good manual would not hurt. You should be able to filter your current fluid and reuse it til the problem is found. I would hate to waste 8 gallons of the new stuff. Aaron

Goes Inside the gearbox. You access via the plate that has the PTO / Hydraulic selector on it.
