Good Day. I am in the process of sourcing a Pony for my son. I am wondering what is the difference between an adjustable axle and a non-adjustable axle. Thanks, JR

John,
The adjustability of the wheels is to allow spacing for different crop row widths. Turning the rear wheels around and adjusting the front axle spacing is how you can plant different row widths.

On a Pony, the non-adjustable axle is arched, like the one on the Allis B, and cannot be extended. The Adjustable axle has a main tube in the center, and the spindles are mounted on tubes that can be inserted, and pinned, at different widths. The adjustable axle is straight, not arched. It looks like the axle on a Farmall A.

A neighbor back in Idaho had an Allis B with a standard front end. He was told that some were sold as industrial versions. It sure was a beauty once he had it restored.

Hi John The non adjustable axle is a solid I beam style the adjustable axle is tube within a tube that you expand to make the front end wider. Hope this helps John
