MF-35 Deluxe Decal Placement

The decal kit for my MF-35 Deluxe arrived today and I plan to install the decals in a few days when the hood paint is good and hard.

My tractor had been repainted previously and the "Ferguson System" decals were placed behind and above rather than directly behind the "Massey Ferguson 35 Deluxe" decals on the raised hood panel.

Is this correct or should the decals be directly behind the long decals on the same raised hood panel? Does anyone have placement measurements for both decals?

Anyone have a picture?

Thanks, in advance.

Dean

I think the included picture should solve your confusions nicely. Don't forget to check out my web site for free access to the manual!

Thanks, Wade. Great picture.

Unfortunately, I have already applied my decals, and I placed them beneath and to the rear of the long decals as shown in the picture of a TO-35 in my Nebraska Tractor Tests book.

I will check out your web site.

I am restoring a 1960 MF-35 and the painting is going to be the most difficult part of the restoration, actually the preparation will be.

Would like to know what you did. What condition was your tin in? How did you prepare and did you paint yourself? If so, what kind of paint did you use? Did you use a compressor and spray gun?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Hi, Bob:

Though I do considerable mechanical work to my tractors, I do not do cosmetic restorations because my tractors are regularly used and I do not need trailer queens. Any paint work that I do is mostly for protection rather than appearance. Additionally, I do not consider myself a painter.

To answser your questions, this MF-35 has very good sheet metal and decent but faded paint. I removed the hood, fenders, etc., sandblasted any rusted areas, sanded areas that had good paint coverage, and primed with Van Sickle tractor/implement rattle cans. I followed up with 2 coats of Van Sickle MF Red rattle cans. Most of the grey areas will not be painted.

I'm sure that you can get much better refinishing advice from others on this forum and/or the other forums on this site.

I placed a request through FENA for a webpage denoting placement of decals on our projects. Hopefully they can come through. I was looking for a pic for you but came up empty. My 65 had the decal low on the dash end of the hood on both sides. Not sure if that was factory, though... Aaron

Thanks, Aaron.

I now believe that this is the proper place for the Ferguson System decals on my 35 as well. My Nebraska Tractor Tests book has a photo of a 1959 TO-35 in it, and the decals are behind and below the long hood decals on the side of the hood.
