V8's and the 24 speed problems?

What kind of issues does the 24 speed tranny in the V8 tractors have? What are the updates on the tranny? Would the tranny hold up for a pull only tractor and some light farm work? Thanks

My Uncle got an MF 2805 a couple of years ago. It has the 24 speed tranny.

We"ve had trouble with it sticking in gear a few times. You absolutely HAVE to come to a complete stop before shifting it between gear ranges in the main shifter.

If you don"t you"re asking for trouble. Getting the danged thing out of gear again is a major undertaking. Sometimes you have to drain the transmission and remove an access cover to mess with the gears.

We"ve learned to be careful with it, and haven"t had any trouble for a long time.

Overall, the tractor"s a pretty good one. It has unstoppable power. Everything works well except the AC. But that can be fixed.
