Hi, I only have the engine serial number for my tractor which I am told is a 1959 MF-35 with the four cylinder 23C diesel. The serial number of the engine is SJ106084ED. I'm not totally sure on the 'E' as the little stub in the middle is barely visible, looks more like a squared off 'C' but I think it's an E. Any information you can tell from this would be much appreciated. Thanks, tractorsam

Hi Aaron
It"s easy to date your tractor from the casting dates, this is from an attachment I send to other owners like you looking for answers to dating
..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... .
1. LOOK ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE ENGINE AS YOU SIT ON IT, LOOK FOR THE CORE BUNGS AND TO THE LEFT MAY BE THE CASTING DATE, IT WILL READ 15.6.58 AND THIS WILL BE CAST ON THE 15TH. OF JUNE 1958. ALL SO SAME SIDE ON THE CLUTCH HOUSING ARE TWO NO. IE; 58.6 BUT COULD BE UPSIDE DOWN. ALSO ON REAR AXEL TRUMPET CASTINGS; THIS IS NORMAL ON A FE 35
..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... .....
Although yours is a MF35 it was a FE35 before the paint work changed as it has the 23C engine, casting dates to build was only a couple of months so that will date it for you

the FE35 started out in oct. 1956 until 1959 it was grey and gold for those first years, 1960 saw it"s new red and grey colour but the serial plate still read FE35 and was still fitted with the 4 cylinder Standard engine up until serial number166596 when the A3-152 Perkins engine was fitted in 1960 These tractors with the standard engine were never exported to the US but to CANADA and Australia and a few other countries.
I have lots of info on this tractor and own one as well, if you would like some more info just email me.
Take a look at this site it is the French built MF835 with the standard engine in it but don"t have the sound up too high

Put this into babelfish to translate it for you

Let me know how you get on and if you would like some more info

Not sure what you are looking for. I checked the tractor registry and compared your engine number. It looks like it is a '59. No surprise there. If you look you will find another owner that has posted a serial number of sj105520ed. Oddly the earlier tractors had higher numerical serials. Look under "research and info" on the left and look under 35, mf35, mf-35, fe35, to35, to-35, 35x, mf35 deluxe, fe35 deluxe and every other name assigned to these little jewels.
