I have a 1950 Pony with an adjustable front axle. The arm that attaches to the bottom of the front, under the radiator, and then connects the two arms which attach to the tie rod ends has a brass bushing around the bolt.

This bushing is now paper thin. It seems to be about 2.5 " long, 1" OD, and perhaps 3/16" thick wall.

Any idea where a new bushing can be found? Nothing listed here or at other sites.

Any help appreciated.

Dave

Dad and I drilled out the bolt hole in the casting. We made a toplink bushing with a washer welded to it fit in the casting and then we put in a new bolt and tightened it all up. Solved all our problems. We had to remove the grill and radiator to work on it, so I would recomend replacing radiatior hoses while its apart.

David, I believe the part you"re talking about is the bell crank. I don"t think it had a bushing originally, but was probably drilled out and bushed to take care of slop. Mine had no bushing, but was very sloppy fit. I had a new bolt made at a machine shop, and had him install a bushing. Total cost was $35. I had the bolt made, because my old bolt was a mess. I had him make the bolt slightly larger where it goes through the engine support, and reamed my engine support to fit. The hole in the engine support was wallowed out some on mine, so even a new bolt of the correct size would have been a sloppy fit in that area.
Anyway, you can just go to a local bearing house, and get the proper OD and ID bushing, cut it to length, and press it in. That is, if you don"t have the problems I had. Good Luck ....Stan
