Have got a MF40e loader shuttle shift.
I want to convert to a manual box to suit my farm more.
What parts will I need and from what model tractor??
It looks like I could use the back of a MF168 but think I would need a gearbox top cover from a MF148 power steer.
Please can anyone help.
Rgds

I think it would be a big and costly job to do. Do you have a manual shuttle or powershuttle? According to my book on MF Ind. It came with a non synchromesh 8 speed or a synchromesh [3,4,7,8] or a power shuttle. It's probably based on an ag. tractor with the turbo 152 but don't know which one. Hope this helps. Dave

The MF 40e is fitted with a power shuttle. It has a 4 speed box with the forward and reverse select on the steering column. The PTO is independant clutch pack variety.I can get a MF168 multipower rear from gearbox back.I would probably need a gearbox cover from a 135/148 powersteering version. My concern is input shafts??Can use a clutch and flywheel from a 135/148 multipower.
Thanks Dave

I don't know which tractors share the same tranny components. The turbo engine is more power so may need a stronger tranny than a 135. Maybe the 168 would work?,but I don't know. Someone like Big Dean might have a better idea what's interchangable. My book shows a 40E with UK specs. I don't know if they were made in US or if there would be any differences. Hopefully someone will no more than I do. Dave
