Hello, I am preparing to re-wire a 6V TO35. I am not sure if this part that is screwed into the top of the trans housing, right side, toward the front, is the neutral switch. It has 2 connections of some sort. Looks like small wire clips on each. has a rubber boot over it. There is nothing connected there now. If it is the safety switch, is there a way to test it? If it is not the switch, what is it? Where is the switch?

Any other tips on this re-wire? Sure would be nice if we could place pictures in with these questions.

John:

What you describe is indeed a neutral start switch. It should be wired in series with the solenoid start circuit. It will prevent energizing of the solenoid unless the High/Low shifter is in neutral. If good, it should read shorted when in neutral and open when not in neutral. If it doesn't, replacements are readily available at a modest price.
