Looking at a 1155. The power steering is sometimes difficult and the brakes are a little spongy. The hydraulic systems seems to be working properly otherwise: lift, pto, remotes. Anybody have an idea what the problem might be.

it has been quite a while since I have worked on one of these, but here is where you can start. The easiest thing to do is to get a high pressure gauge and put it into the hyd outlets. You should have a range of 1800 to 2200 PSI if my memory serves correctly. This same pressure works the steering. If that is low, it can be a multitude of things from simle to hard. Simple, change the hydrolic filter in the big can up front. Harder, check the charge pump screen on the bottom of the transmission case. You will have to drain all the oil first so that it doesn't come gushing out on you, 10-15 gals or so. Harder still, check charge pump pressure on top of transmission under platfrom floor, probably around 150-250 PSI minimum and rebuild if pump shows weak or worm. Hardest, rebuild front high pressure pump, being very careful as front end needs to be loesened and swung out of way keeping one of the 1" bolts into the frame finger tight. Drop the pump slowly, must weigh 70-80 pounds. Buy an IT repair book, specs are there nad procedures clairified. Oh, brakes may just need bleeding, screws back under 3pt above axles, bleed as you would a car, keeping master cylinder full
