My 1961 MF 205D 3 point will not lift. It did not lift when I bought it 2 years ago. Trying to fix it, I replaced the lift piston rings and changed the gear oil. I think the control valve is in the bottom of the case. A tube runs from this valve to the top cover which I think sends oil into the piston from a passage in the top cover. While the tractor is running or off, I can move the lift arms up and down easily. It seems like the oil is not getting into the lift piston. When adding oil to the filler plug, it wouldn't accept any. I had to remove another bolt and dump into case. Looking for info. from any MF mechanics or someone familiar with this model. I'll try adding a picture. Thanks.

Larry

Larry, Before getting in too deep into service, I
just want to remind you that the 205 has the inst.
reverse trans and the three point will not lift
unless a forward or reverse pedal is actuated.
The transmission can be in gear or in neutral, but
a pedal must be actuated or the three point won't
lift. Chuck

Chuck,

I'll give that a try. I hope that's all there is to it. Do you know if it matters if the draft lever is up or down? The manual says all the way up allows a external cylinder to be used, but does it divert all oil from the lift cylinder? I don't have a external cylinder plumbed in so I'm thinking it shouldn't matter either way. Thanks.

Maybe this will work. I forget each time I do this.
