Working on my second Pony it did not have a generator.I got a generator a new amp guage and new 6 volt battery, wired up like like my first Pony.It is discharging. The amp guage is for the Ford N's but it looks and fits like the orginal Pony guage. My ponies don't have lights so you hook the terminal coming out of the generator to ground right? Many Thanks for any help.

There are four terminals on the old type switch. One comes from the generator, one comes from the ammeter. The switch is self grounding unless the little ground lugs on it's case are loose, or unless you've painted the dashboard it's fitted into, so that might be the trouble. Thre is a terminal for lights, but it you don't have any, there's no wire landed there. I had trouble with the old switch on this one and had to land the terminal at one end of the resistor to ground cause the grounding lug wasn't working. I can send a picture and a digram.

How about a few more details? What are you using for a voltage regulator? Is it just a "cut-out" or is it a regulator? You should have 2 wires comming from the generator. Where do they go? The amp gauge is not your problem unless you have it wired backwards. Do you have avoltmeter? More questions? Also what make and model of generator did you get? I also have a generator troubleshooting chart but I need an e-mail address. More questions? J.

The generator is an Auto-Lite GBM 4804A52C with a cutout relay. The wire from the generator goes to the gen. side of cutout relay. The batt. side of relay goes to a off/on toggle switch then to amp guage then to ignition switch. The off/on toggle is to break the curcuit and keep generator from cooking battery because I don't have a working 3 position light switch .The wire from the terminal on the generator goes to ground,I think this would have orginally went to the 3 position light switch.I don't have a voltmeter. Thanks
