I've noticed the engine electrics on my MF-135 w/Perkins gas engine are delco, so will a delco coil off a 70 Chevy truck work on it?

Go to NAPA and get a part number IC14, or IC14SB if you want a less expensive version. Both of these have the internal resistor.

A 135 MF uses a coil with an internal resistor. A 70 Chevy p/u has a coil without an internal resistor. If you use a coil without the internal resistor it will burn up the points.

No, a coil is a coil is a coil is not right. Its different strokes for different folk---er manufacturers.Coils are a lot like women. Some are wound different and some are hotter than others.Sometimes their response is determined by how much voltage is put into them. It may or may not work.
