My father-in-law and I went tractor hunting this weekend and found this cute tractor. I am not familiar with Massey-Ferguson's, but it looks like a really nice utility tractor. It has a 3-cylinder diesel engine.

Any idea on value, or if parts for the engine are still available? Also, how much would an engine rebuild cost?

Have to agree with the others here. Tractor looks like it was burned, looks like a parts tractor to me, and I generally find potential with most. As already stated, if the injection pump does not work, 600 may be an understatement. I just went through 4 months of trying to piece together a pump for a 65 diesel, as hard parts are all NLA. I got it together, total cost of $935.00 to get the pump straightened out. Watch out with old diesels, pump are expensive to fix, IF you can fix them.

After spending many bucks and hundred of hours of labor, that one will not bring even the parts costs to fox it. Better pass, unless you really need a parts tractor. Tom

John:

Like the others have already said, it's a MF-35, one of the best small utility tractors ever made by anyone. Unfortunately, it would not be cost effective to repair that one. It's a parts tractor worth only a $200 - $300.

I have 2 MF-35s with Perkins diesels to go along with the 5 Fords in my stable. The 35s will de every bit as much work as my very good 55 860, and use half the amount of fuel doing so.

MF 35 with perkins Engine In nice running shape Tops $3500 with live power. I bought a running one for $1500 uses oil 1963 live power a few months ago . I got one like that maybe a little better too, for spare parts for $150. You could have a ton of money in fixing that one, just check the price of tires first WOW!! What if the ijcector pump is bad at least $600 there alone!

It appears to be a 1961 MF 35. If you rebuild the engine yourself, about $300 to $450 for a rebuild kit, depending on extra parts. I needed one new rod, plus we destroyed the first sleeve until we put them in the freezer overnight, and then removed them one at a time when we were ready to install it. I believe parts are available at several suppliers, not sure, but think even dealers still have some of them. I will let the real experts on this forum correct me, or at least give you some more advice, and comments on parts availability. C. T.
