Hi Gents

I am building a log splitter to fit onto the back of my tractor & run off the trailer feed hydraulics. But I am not sure how the hydraulic fluid (oil) is returned to the tractor. Where should it go??? I have looked at various manuals but none of them tell me. I'm sure you will all think this is stupid question, but I would appreciate you help. Many Thanks Malcolm (UK)

Hi, good advice from Richard. If you use the drain hole make sure that the bore is not restricted in any way. The return line must always have a larger bore than the supply.

It was recomended by M-F to return oil back through the drain plug so the returns oil was returned below oil level to prevent foaming, however most people returned through the gearbox filler plug hole.
