Massey Harris 22 (1948 gas rowcropper)

Got the 52 page "Operating Instructions and Service Manual" but some of the stuff it mentions I have never seen before (no unusual).

Is there some kind of list out there that will tell me what parts I can use on the tractor?

For oils it mentions SAE 10 and 30, Transmission SAE 140 and 90.
It also says to drain the transmission and fill it with kerosene drive it for a few minutes then drain and refill with transmission oil.
That sounds very odd.

It doesn't go very indepth into some things I was hopping it would.

So where can I find parts, oils or conversions for such?

Thank you
Michael

You have to remember those instructions are around 60 years old.In some places single grade engine oils can still be purchased, but I would go with a good 10W40 these days. You may or may not be able to find SAE 140 ,but once again I would use an SAE 80/90 grade transmission oil.The recommendation to flush the transmission with kerosene is a good one for a tractor of that vintage, but I probably wouldn't ever do it again ,once it is flushed and refilled with new SAE 80/90. Some parts are still available through Massey Ferguson dealers.Ask here if they cannnot supply what you need.
