Is this something to be concerned about? It only knocks when they are 100% raised. What's the problem? What's the remedy?

Like mf poor says, they all do it. I wouldn't leave the lever in like he suggests you can though, I'd drop it down just so it stops knocking. I think it's the releif valve popping, but I don't know for sure. Either way. it'll heat up your oil more than it should be if you leave it all the way up.

There should be a stop on the control on both sides of the lever, one to keep it form going into constant pumping unintentionally, and the other for you depth stop.

BTW- our 285 does it too, so it's not just one series that does it. I'm pretty sure the 35,65 etc... as well as the 100 & 200 sereis all do it, as well as possibly even the newer ones.

Yours and every other 100 series Massey ever built. When the position control lever is raised to "constant pumping" it"ll knock like that. Lower 3-point slightly and it"ll quiet down somewhat if it bothers you. Nothing to worry about. Mine has done that for 35 years now.
