G"day all
The brakes on my 178 do not hold anymore, just wondering how you would go about adjusting them( is there an illustrated text I can view somewhere) or failing that replacing them?

Thanks..... ...mf

I'm not sure what a 178 is but I'm assuming it is a variation on the 175, of which I have one. My brakes didn't work and I could not tighten them to work either. Well, I could tighten them but they would not grab. So I ordered new brake pads and took it apart. It turned out that the original pads were still good, but the axel casting and the pressure plate had a mirror finish burnished into them. My Dad used to stand on those brake pedals alot.

I took a grinder and ground away the mirror finish (carefully), put in the new pads and the brakes now work great.

The only challange in that job was getting the differential lock pedal shaft out. It had siezed into the casting.

Good Luck,
JP.
