MF 165 clutch

In my 165 diesel, I had an oilsoaked clutch due to Multipower transmission leaks. I rebuilt the front section of the transmission, and now the Hi/Low is nice and crisp. But now I'm having trouble with the clutch - the PTO clutch doesn't completely disengage. Rather than buy a complete new clutch, I had rebuilt the original one following the I&T book to the letter, with new aftermarket discs from the AGCO dealer. The linkage is adjusted to get full pedal travel. The main drive clutch disengages near the top of the pedal stroke, but even when you push the pedal all the way down, the PTO clutch drags. I have the gap between the two clutch stages set at about .080. Any ideas before I just go and buy a whole new clutch assembly?

I adjusted the gap to .06 and it works now. The clutch disengages without dragging and I can get the PTO in gear with the engine running. Thanks for the help! By the way the ignition key is .080 thick, which is where I started the adjustment. Now that I got the flood stopped from the transmission, I noticed I also have an engine oil leak. Should I suspect the rear main or the pan gasket?

Good to hear on the pto clutch . A new clutch will work at .08 but worn linkage it will need .06.

Set up the clearance using the ignition key as a feeler gauge, set the pedal free travel, and as long as you dont have a lot of wear in the linkage pins you will be ok. If wear in the linkage is a problem then you can set the clearance less like you had to on a 500 series tractor which always had a lot of slop in the linkage.
