Just bought a tractor which the guy said was a 1948 massey. The plate on the frame is missing but the motor # looks like mfc (or G)140C (or G) 32449 and on the side of the transmission is the # f2152. The trans is separated from the bellhousing by about a 10" driveshaft. The front axle is an ajustable round tube. Tires are 28". Any one have an idea as to make and model? Thanks, Lyle

Do some scraping on top of the tranny, just behind the clutch pedal and front of the cover for the differential cover. The tractor serial number is stamped there. I'm assuming now that we are talking Massey Harris here. Post what you find, and someone will tell you the model and year, if 48 is incorrect.

So, how are things in Texas? You might have to change your handle to Dave_TX.

Hi Mike, Austin is pretty nice, except it sure is hot down here. About 28 straight days in the triple digits. Dave_Tx is already taken, so the little bit I still post, I guess I'll stick with the Idaho handle. I got a machinist job at a company here that produces instrumentation for oil rigs. It keeps me busy, and cool, as the place is air conditioned. A guy I work with was picking up hay last week in this 100 degree temperatures. I tell you, these Texans are crazy, and can really take the heat.
