MF180 diesel governor unresponsive

Help, I have searched YT archives and can't find an answer, so I'm asking for opinions here. My diesel 180 runs great except under load, I don't think the governor is responding like other tractors I own (diesel or gas). For example, when baling hay, when the windrow gets thick, the engine rpm will drop as if the governor is not even trying to keep up. At that point I usually open the throttle or drop the multipower into low. Is this just a trait of the 180 I need to get used to, or do I need to sell the wife's car and raise money for an injector pump rebuild? Thanks

I think you may be right about the injector pump. We have a 180 with a seven foot mower. I have been in thick stuff higher than the tractor and it will keep up without a second thought.

Before you sell the wife's car, try replacing the fuel filters and reprime the system.

I'm affraid that you need to have the fuel pump looked after. Our 180 is on a 9'5" disc mower and it takes a good hill to choke down the engine.
