If you come across any older (not really old) Lincoln welders, they used the Continental F400 block engines and they were in a ton of ag and industrial stuff as well. The common sizes were 124, 140, and 162 cubic inches, all the same with differences in bore. There were also 135 and 163 industrial versions as well. Any of them will bolt right up. Too bad you didn't live over here, you find them almost anywhere.

Mike, I have spoken with you before regarding my 102 GS. My question is: if they were calling the 101 a 102 in 1946, why does mine have the F140 engine? Everything I find states tht they went to the F162 in later production. My ser# is 384781 --101JR-- the serial number plate is 102 JS. I am sure that the engine is the original. Also, why did the 102 serial numbers continue into 1946 if they were all 101s? Interesting stuff!

Originally (1939) the 101's were gas and the 102's were distillate fuel. Then some changes in design happened in about 1943 or so. At that time, ALL export models were designated as 102's, so gasoline versions sent to Canada for example were MH 102's (gas). In the states, things stayed as they were before the change I believe. So everyone up here who has a "late" year Junior has a 102 Junior, even though they are gas. The editor of the MH magazine told me that so it's probably correct.

According to Keith Oltrogges Massey Tractor Data Book, you have a 1945 102Jr Standard (Kerosene). The serial numbers on these Massey Harris don't overlap one another, so there is no error identifying these tractors with the serial number.

Thanks for your replys! My father says it's a 102 Jr. Standard. But that's only what he have heard. Another problem is that I cannot find a matching starting serial number on this site.

Anyone else have a starting serial number of 3916XX?

I have no photos at the moment. The tractor is in a barn and is in a huge need of a restoration. Maybe I can shoot some pictures in a near future :)

It' seems that there only a few of these tractors here in Sweden. Im having problem finding other people who owns a Massey Harris anno 1950 or older.

One valve is defect and the engine has a small crack in one of the exhausts. It's welded but it does not feel good.

Maybe someone know if these engine blocks can be found in other wiechles? Im in a need of a spare engine - seems very hard to track down here in Sweden :( Else im thinking of putting an old Volvo B18 (1,8 litre) or B20 (2.0 litre) engine from around 1960, in the tractor. We have alot of these engines here in Sweden ;) These engines is powering the "Volvo Amazon" for example.

It is an four-cylinder, OHV (over head valve - with pushrods) engine. A very durable, strong construction, very overdimentioned for today's standards. Except for cars it was also used in Volvo-BM tractors, combined harvesters, army vehichles and lots of other machinery.

Thanks in advance - best regards from Sweden!
