135 MF air filter

The Wix cataloge says the inner filter is #46297 and the outer is #42123. The filters are too short and the open end doesnt touch the bottom of the housing before the top end touches the top end. Its a 135 with the 3 cylinder Perkins GAS engine. Any help is appreicated. Thanks, davids

You are correct that the "new" filters such as Wix are too short. My 135 with Perkins gas has the single element type. It had an old NAPA flter with a soft flexible lip on the bottom that sealed well. The "new" one had a hard rubber seal that was too short. I took a piece of Saran Wrap and some black silicone sealer and fixed it. I put the sealer on the hard rubber part and the Saran Wrap over that and installed it loosely. After the silicone set, I took off the Saran Wrap. It's been 160+ hours and it is working well.

These are the correct filters for your 135 w/
Perkins gas. The very lst ones just used the
single element. The parts book shows a nut and
sealing washer down in the canister. It's been
too long since I've changed one but could that be
missing? Chuck

same tractor, my filter is single long bugger with spin kinda blades on the end, got it from AGCO, shake the wweds out every now/then

I get both inner and outer air filters from a MF dealership in the next town. They are cheaper there than local auto parts stores.
