I have an old Massey Ferguson 50. It has a Z134 Continental engine. 3 speed tranny with a high, low selector. It is a tricycle front end. (which I need a steering cylinder for.cant find) It has 38 inch rear tires on it. Every Massey Ferguson 50 that I've looked at on the internet is wide front end with 28 inch tires on it. What is so special about this one and what is it. Is it some kind of rowcrop. I have called for parts and most people tell me that Massey Ferguson 50 did not make a tricycle front end. I just rebuilt the motor and am stuck on getting a steering cylinder shaft because mine is rusted. I can get parts for the wide front end with dual steering cylinders. Please help.

Not at all rare. I"ve seen dozens. It"s a "High Arch" norrow front. It was offered with single or double front wheels. It was available in the Ferguson F-40, Massey Harris 50, Massey Ferguson 50, and on in to the 100 series with the MF 150. There were many times more wide front utilities (24" or 28" rears), but a BUNCH of high arch NF,s and WF"s. I"ve got an F-40 NF in pieces in the shed awaiting restoration. (time and money)

I am with you on the MF50 rowcrop. I have not heard of it either. It is possible that the front was swapped on from a 65 as the mounting points are identical and the 65 did come in a rowcrop version. The steering gear on the 65 and the 50 were identical as well. If your 50 has inboard rear disc brakes with an outboard planetary, then it may be possible that someone swapped a 134 into a 65. Advantages of that swap would be availability of parts and price of those parts.

My brothers tractor is a CGM which should be a high clearance, but someone has swapped a low clearance front end and rear wheels on it.

Never know what you will find....

Check Baum Hydraulics (www.baumhydraulics.com) for hydraulic cylinder shafting. Might need some lathe work to fit your cylinder. Starting with stock is far cheaper than grinding the rust off, replating, and grinding back to size.
