I have found a 44 with a MH loader. The tag on the loader says it's a Massey-Harris "super". What difference is it from a regular loader? It looks as tho it has been "modified" quite a bit around the trip area. Is it worth taking a closer look, or are they a dime-a-dozen? Tractor is trashed. Thanks

Have to disagree on Statis of the Super-Six,It was one of the most Modern loaders in its day(40s-early 50s).It was the only Self Leveling Loader that I can remember then,Module const.for easy removel. The one Dad had wasn't a Massey, but I can't remember the name on it,other than Super-Six.Massey didn't buy Them until the Early 50s if I remember right. There were about 10-12 around us back then,50/50 on Masseys and Olivers. It would Dump over a 9-10 ft.Sides.

MH had a 3 size offering of front end loaders, for
tractors. Some parts from stock channel iron. The
bucket had a hinge/swivel about even with front of the engine block. Seems they lacked interest in
use on a wide front end 44. Lift height was not a
priority, thus, short line companys developed better features on their loaders. The MH loaders were known as Super Six. In the mid-fifties, MHF,
or MF sold the loader division to some investor
group, who re-designed them, higher lift, wide front axle friendly, painted yellow, common on
Ford Major Diesel tractors. Kind of faded away,
with competition from many brands. MF bought a
FEL company, compatible with Ferguson style models.
The Super Six, on a 44, was not at all modern,
with trip bucket, crude design. Limited value to
restore, better to use the sweat labor on a MH
tractor, have a classic.
