I'm looking at a MF 135 with a 3AG-152 Perkins engine. Is this a rare bird? It either bent or swallowed a valve. Are these wet or dry sleeved?
How is parts availability? Does much interchange with the diesel 3AD-152? If so, would I be better off to find enough stuff to convert? I know this is a load of questions, and I would appreciate any information or technical assistance
Thanks in advance, Karl.

there are lots of them. I own one myself and have worked it for 7 years myself and have had no problems with the engine other than a valve cover gasket. parts are available from massy or perkins and are reasonable (my opinion). personally I would not convert to diesel the gas engine runs very cheap, I can pull a 3-14 massy plow all day long on less than 10 gallons of gas. also if you can convert you will need a head with manifolds,an injector pump and probably different pistons, it would probably cheaper to find another diesel motor, and a lot cheaper to redo the gas head. good luck.

Thanks, Lee; I guess I just needed some encouragement. I'm going over in a few days to pull the head and see what's wrong before I even think about making a deal on the tractor.
Again, thanks,
Karl

Karl, I just recently had a MF dealer do a complete overhaul on the same tractor, total cost was $2100 and after 35 hours of pulling a 6' bushhog thru a lot of 4 and 5' tall weeds and grass---my maximum gas usage so far has been 1.25 gal. /hr.----- -I wanted a diesel also, but it doesnt get much cheaper than this to operate. AND, after 30 hours----the valve cover gasket IS leaking!
