I recently bought a Massey Harris ?. The auctioneer said is was a 44 but it seems a bit small for a 44.

This tractor has 28" rears, 4 cylinder gas, 62266 in raised print on the top of the flat head. The oil canister is on the left side (looking toward the front). There is a spring loaded bolt attached to the oil filter cap. PTO but no 3 pt hitch.

I would appreciate if someone could help me identify this tractor.

Thank you.

I'm suprised that someone didn't ask if it was a flathead engine or an overhead valve engine. One other question, soes it (or did it) have hinged side panels? The serial number is hand stamped into the UPPER machined surface (to the left by the clutch pedal area) between the cast iron shifting platform and the steel plate that covers the rear differential area. It's there for sure, probably covered in paint and rust so start wire brushing. Post it here and then you'll know for sure.

This is a flathead engine. The side panels are not hinged.

I will start looking for the serial number - you are right about this area being covered in paint and rust.

Thank you kindly for your help.

I have a Massey Harris 30 that sounds similar, I don"t know about the the number on top of the flathead, I can"t see , my hood is on, I have the same number on my block on the side on a aluminum plate near the oil filler tube , mine is 1949 Massey that did not have 3 point hitch either, I now put one one on off a 22 . My tractor also has 28 rears. I would say without seeing the tractor it would be MH30. Stan

I don't know a lot about the MHs may self but the 30 and 44 I have both have 38 inch rear tires and on the left side on the frame is a plate that has the model number and serail number on both of my tractors.
