i am the FFA president at my school and we have a Massey Harris 101JR. I was wondering does anyone have the parts to connect the air cleaner to the choke and from the air cleaner out? If u have it all the parts that would help too.

thanks james

You mean of course the choke end of the carburetor. Anyways, there were two versions of the 101 Junior, the early ones had the air cleaner mounted in front of the radiator on the rad support bracket. Later ones had the air cleaner on the opposite (left) side from the carburetor near the rear of the engine. You are probably after the later version by reading your post.

OK, so you have one of the earlier ones. I had two of those once, still have one. The first one was missing the pipe. I made up a nice pipe from sections of rad hose which were joined together whenever needed by inner sections of thinwalled tubing that had a snug fit and used stainless clamps at the joints (one clamp per joint over the seam). You'll have to search the junkyards for sections of rad hose with the correct bend angle in them (you need two bends, one lower and one later up by the radiator) and get stuff that is thinwall, the stuff on imports works best. Use one stainless clamp on the lower joint spanning the joint. The joint through the radiator tin panel needs a clamp on both sides of the joint or if the fit is nice and snug, you can get by without clamps. Works good and if you do a nice, neat job, you can't even tell it's not factory. There is nothing leaving (exiting) the top of the aircleaner (intake pipe stub), it just sits there open. I made a snug-fitting breather mesh for there that is held in place by a long cotter pin through from side to side that keeps the mesh in place.

Hey my shop teacher and i figured out that the block should have the air cleaner on the left side but the generator is there. the hoods from the early ones did they have the hole for the air cleaner in front? and are the hood basicly the same (early and late models other then the hole for the air cleaner). becasuse i figured we could change hoods and then run the air cleaner like the early model.

The later ones (about 1943 or so onwards) had the air cleaner mounted at the left REAR area, above where the starter is. Not forwards in the generator area. And those did have the air cleaner intake stack through the hood's left side. The early ones did not have an intake stack through the hood, they just took air in at the top (side) of the air cleaner body through a short stub pipe.

Meanwhile, does your tractor have the original side panels on it? The early versions had a single panel on each side with a very simple downward curve near the front. The later versions had two panels per side, a more complex and styled curve which started in the front panel and continued on into the rear panel. The rear panels covered the battery area.
