Well my brother in law had just recently bought a massey harris pony but someone had done a poor job on converting it over to 12 volt, we rewired it but we cant get it to fire. It turns over and all and there is a backfire when we let off the switch. Just lost on to what is causing it not to fire. If you can help please email me.

I think Dave is correct. Could be off 180 degrees. If so, you can fix that by changing the plug wire positions (not the order).

It sounds like the timing is way off. Check the plug wire placement first.
