I have a LONG backhoe. I replaced all cylinder and control O rings and packings. The hoe worked fine for 6 hours. Then the boom swing started to move slowly, when swung left or right. Now it won't swing all left or right, unless I bottom the curl or crawl cylinder. Then left or right swing works fine.

Help????

Thanks TnPA

My guess is there is something like a relief valve or a cushion valve that is bypassing in your swing valve. When you close the valve for the crowd or the bucket you closes off the return to the reservoir. Forcing the oil to go through the swing valve. I have seen this kind of thing happen before where you have valves in a series like they are on a backhoe.

Without being familiar with your unit...
That's strange stuff !

I can't think of any real interactions that those components should have short of possibly being short on hydraulic oil ! "With the cylinders bottomed.." you mean fully retracted ?

If so, that would put a little more oil back in the resivoir. (the displacement of the rods...)

So... how's your hydraulic fluid level doing ?

If that's ok... i wonder if a mechanical 'bind' has developed anywhere ? If you kill the engine and you get somebody to hold the swing valve one way or another.. does the boom swing ok with the cylinders topped, mid stroke or bottomed ?

Be sure and let us know what you find...
