Is that a hydraulic forward/reverse shifter? Infinitely variable hydraulic transmission?

Please excuse my newbie ignorance.

Rod...multi-power has already been well-described by the other guys, but I wanted to say it's been a great feature on my 165.

Multi-power Hi gives you that additional range, plus the hill-holding brake, & engine braking. I use all of them often.

Not sure about your 35, but on the 165 multi-power is actuated thru a hydraulic clutch-pak. A small auxilliary pump sitting on top of the main belly pump provides pressure to the pak. It's a good idea to always start the tractor w/ the M-P lever in Hi.

Its a gear splitter shiftable on the go. It also acts as a hill holder in one range. Its intended that when working hard in multipower high that when the load gets harder (like plowing and the ground gets damper) you can shift down half a gear without stopping, and then shift back up when the load gets back to normal. Exactly the same purpose as the IH Torque Amplifier.

Multi-Power is a 2-speed high-low, similar to Oliver's Hydra-Power, IH's Torque Amplifier, and Moline's Ampli-Torque.

I always thought it was a shift on the go high/low like a TA but I could be wrong.
