well my multi-power just went out on my 35. fluid leaking like a river from the bottom of the tractor and got my clutch wet also.

holy cow batman!!!! that cost some jack to get it fixed!!!!! 1800.00 just to start. they said it could cost more than the tractor is worth. that does not sound good. it has been a very good tractor until this "little" problem.

how hard is this to do at home? anybody done it??

thanks for all the info guys. i dont know what i am going to do yet. i would like to keep the tractor and the multi-power option. however, sometimes it better to keep the cash in your pocket also.

can see spending more than the tractor is worth to fix it. just wish now i would not have put the new rear tires and brakes on it. lol lol but the old hind sight is 20/20

thanks again guys.

hey big dean... if i do this myself what is the best place to buy the parts from.

weldin man,

why dont you post a thread on it so we all have the info on it. that would be a big help!!

Sorry for the Delay. Been very busy This Week -Tractor Pull Saturday. First you Must Remove The Transmission From The Tractor and Totally Dissasemble it.You can remove the valve in the bell housing and make a plate to cover the holes or simply wire it where it can't move. Remove the Multi power Pump and hoses in the diff. housing. Remove the spring and clutch discs from the multi power clutch,You will reuse the drum to act as a spacer. On the bottom Countershaft ,Disassemble the jaw clutch.remove the spring.take the low range gear ,jaw coupler
and counter shaft to the welding table.Slightly bevel the rachet side O D of the Jaw coupler and gear Set the coupler on the gear, slide the counter shaft through both pieces and and tack weld the coupler to the gear. remove the shaft and carefully run a small bead around the groove. Let cool and grind the weld ,if necessary, where the high speed gear wil slide back over the assembly as before. Reassemble the transmission. Multipower removed!!!

Multi-power can be removed from these transmissions.Takes about 12 to 15 hrs labor to do the job and a few gaskets and seals and little bit of welding. We have done several of them over the years and never had any problems. If interested leave a post and I"ll try to explain how.

If you have the equipment needed to split the tractor between the engine and the transmission then the Multipower is not that hard to repair. For about $800 to $900 you can get a 6 or 8 speed transmission that will bolt tight in place of the Multipower transmission. If I can be of further help email me

Hi,
There is a small possibility that it might not be as bad as it seems. My first thought was the seal at the front of the input housing had failed, but this should not produce the 'river' that you mention. I'm assuming that you have pipes coming up through the top of the gearbox and going forward to an oil cooler and pressure maintaining valve. It is just possible that one of these pipes where it is connected to the input housing has worked loose or broken. If this should be the case it would only be a split and clutch parts. Remove the belly plate (carefully) and with a torch look up to see if anything is visible in the way of a leak. At worst removing and stripping the gearbox is not too difficult with a good shop manual, genuine is best. Depending on what parts are needed you might be approaching the value of the tractor. Good luck.

i just loved the little tractor when it was working. it always started and never a problem until the multi-power went out.

i mean when do you draw the line? spend $1500-$2000 for a $3000 tractor?
